What this is

PhasmoLab is a free challenge generator for the co-op horror game Phasmophobia by Kinetic Games. Pick a set of rule categories, hit generate, lock the rules you like, and re-roll everything else until the run feels right. The whole challenge is encoded into a share link - no server, no account, nothing saved.

Who built it

I'm Kyle Minto, a full-stack web developer based in the UK. I play Phasmophobia fairly regularly, and the existing challenge tools were either too rigid or too fiddly - so I built something that works the way I wanted it to.

I've also made a companion site for The Other Side, another co-op horror game - theotherguide.co.uk, a community reference covering ghost types, evidence, maps, and equipment. Same idea, different game.

Why it exists

Randomised challenge runs are a great way to keep sessions fresh - especially for groups who've exhausted the base game loop. The goal was a generator that's instant to open, impossible to break (no contradictory rules), and easy to share with a single link. No sign-up, no setup.

How it's built

Static site, built with Astro and a small amount of React for the generator interface. No tracking, no ads, no cookies. Page views are counted via GoatCounter, which is privacy-friendly and doesn't track individuals.
